Guria is a historically famous place for beekeeping. In some areas, they still practice a primitive form of beekeeping – putting buds on huge trees. High quality honey can easily be found in Guria, which is mostly made from nectar produced from acacia, chestnut, lime and alpine meadows.
Honey is not only for eating, but is used to make vodka. In general, the distillery process of making chacha with fruit juice is found throughout Guria, however it is also popular to make chacha with honey, so called “vodka of candle”. They call it “buzzy vodka” in Guria.
