The Church of Erketi is recognized by the government as a monument of national importance. It is located 8 kilometers southeast from Chokhatauri. The way to the church begins as an asphalt road, which turns into a concrete path. The Church of Erketi was built in the IX century and is very similar to the Likhauri church in its construction and decoration.
On the southern wall of the church, there is a fresco of Pilate washing his hands, which is rare in Georgian frescoes. On the side of the church, there is a monastery that has a door made out of a grape tree.
Another interesting monument is to the south of Erkhti. It is St. George’s Church in the village of Shuban, however the road to the church is not safe as Shuban and Erkheti churches are built on high gorges. There are overlook views, but from time-to-time, the roads to these places fall apart.
